How to distinguish slot VGA | AGP and PCI Express
How to distinguish VGA AGP and PCI Express (PCIex) is an external VGA differently, in terms of quality and physically they are different. AGP has 2 kinds of types of AGP 4x and 8x, last version of AGP is AGP 3.0 which is generally referred to as AGP 8x which was released in November 2000. This specification defines speeds up to 533 MHz thus allowing the theoretical throughput of up to 2133 Megabytes / second (two times higher compared with the AGP 4x). Nevertheless, the fact that the performance demonstrated by the AGP 8x not really two times higher than the AGP 4x, while PCI Express also has 2 types of PCIex PCIex 1.0 and 2.0. PCI Express capability is 2 times more than the ability of AGP 8x, then called with PCIex 16x – 16x PCIex 1.0 or – 2.0.
But now the existence of an AGP VGA already rare because production was discontinued,
Many stores that sell the AGP is more expensive than PCIex. Whenever you want to buy a VGA to use you should have to know the difference both physically. If not then chances are you will be wrong in choosing the type of VGA, if you use AGP or PCI Express VGA (PCIex). You must purchase in accordance with the support of your motherboard, if you have a book you should read the motherboard manual and see if your motherboard supports AGP or PCI Slot VGA Express or PCIex.
If you do not have to directly dismantle your PC and see slotnya.Biasanya also written on the board what type of motherboard used:
The Characteristics owned by VGA AGP slot is:
* The shape is wide and short,
* Pembatasnya be centered
* The color of the slot depends on the brand can motherboar brown, red or other.
While the characteristics of PCI Express VGA (PCIex), namely:
* The shape over a length of about 8-10cm
* Pemisahnya only 1-2cm from the left.
* The color is also relative.
for more details, please see the following picture:

Picture above shows a VGA slot on a motherboard, not all motherboards have an AGP slot and PCI Express. usually only have AGP or PCI express, it all depends on our motherboard spec.
Up here maybe you can make sure your motherboard supports what slot, now you just figure out how to choose a VGA according to your needs, you probably will be confused in choosing VGA when you want to buy, whether to buy from the red camp (ATI) or Kubu Green (NVIDIA).
